Costco Vendor
Michelle Hoskins, CEO and founder of Michelle Foods recently became the first African American Vendor with Costco! She was on the Oprah Show and told her story, rising from welfare and doing well. She is asking all people regardless of color to support her. Go to Costco and purchase a bottle of her pancake syrup for $3.85 She says “It’s time to replace Aunt Jemima with Michelle Foods Pancake Syrup.”
CEO of Restaurant Chains
Each Week tens of thousands of diners eat at the Olive Garden or Red Lobster. Few of these diners know that CEO of these large restaurant chains is a Black man, Clarence Otis Jr. His high school counselor recommended him for a scholarship to a highly selective college in Massachusetts. After Law School he ended up on Wall Street. He became CEO of Darden Restaurants in 2005.

Ann Arbor Ypsilanti Reads
Ann Arbor Ypsilanti Reads is a community initiative to promote reading and civic dialogue through shared the experience of reading and discussing a common book. The theme for 2008 is “China and America: Bridging the two Worlds” The book is The Eighth Promise by William Poy Lee. For information please contact the Ann Arbor or Ypsilanti District Library.

Loyal Opposition to the Status Quo, Inc.The purpose of the Loyal Opposition to the Status Quo, Inc. is to advance the social and economic life of African-Americans and other minorities, through education,communication, rational thought, leadership and community attitudes.
The LOSQ, Inc. was formed in 2006 by a group of concerned citizens in the Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti and Lansing areas. Attorney Raymond G. Mullins is the organization's founder. Mr. Mullins is a long-time resident of Ypsilanti, former President of the Ypsilanti-Willow Run Branch of the NAACP, and a community activist.
